The Fairy Tale and the Flock: ‘Becoming American’

Envision the witch in Hansel and Gretel and her gingerbread house covered in candy which enticed all the little children, yet only with the wicked intention of cooking and eating them whole!  To a child, the guised witches lure inspired them to seek the fruition of their dreams.  What a paradise of endless candy and consumption!

Yet, to the witch it meant a different dessert of sorts.

The same sort of enticement I see for immigrants coming to the United States.

That land of milk and honey awaits, with streets paved of gold… “One for all and all for one!” we proclaim alongside the words of “Freedom” and “Democracy”, “Justice” and “Peace!” Who wouldn’t want to taste the decadence of the candy, or discover the riches and treasures that lie at the end of the leprechaun’s rainbow?

The path through the forest, much like the rainbow, metaphorically speaking, is the journey that so many take as they are ‘enticed’ by the wicked witches and little whimsical fellows, who disguise themselves by such proclamations.  Yet beneath their guise are the trenches of prejudice, greed, hatred, oppression, and the like.

The ‘pot of gold’ has revealed itself as a ‘pot of stew,’ … and has permeated American society into a melting pot of disgruntled, disappointed people giving them the revelation that it really was a ‘fairy tale.’

So it is the witches who decide what goes in the pot.  Yet, it all depends on the tastes of such witches.  Again I speak in metaphors, so here I note that the witches are those with motives for enticement.

For example, relaxing immigration laws to attract immigrants for servitude (i.e. low wages) to maximize capitalistic gains, but when the supply exceeds the demand -  we chastise them and turn them away, leaving many afar with visions of an inaccessible paradise that lies deep in a mystical forest in a land so far, far away.

Becoming American for those that remain presents another paradox.  When their aspirations are crushed they are left lethargic, being drained of ambition to achieve the ‘acknowledged’ unattainable and are left with having to deal with their feelings of victimization.  Saving ‘face’ plays a major role for many as they do not want to admit their futility to those who remain ‘back home.’

Herein lies another complication for those in such a predicament…. How do you tell your wife and children that the milk is bitter and the honey is stale?  This bears the fruit of a sardonic dilemma, as who would want to crush the hopes and dreams of their loved ones?

Historically speaking… Africans, Hispanics, Asians, and countless others who immigrated to America only to be enslaved by the chains of such an affliction I presume suffered a similar psychological and emotional turmoil.

So they become American, like it or not, through assimilation and acculturation as they wane on American soil.  They witness others who achieve success, and despite their own demise, the seduction of the ‘witches’ (i.e. social and political institutions) still persists in the back of their mind generating hopes that they might one day defeat the witch and gain the wealth of candy. Similar to the ‘pot of gold’ in the mystery of the leprechaun, they remain, questioning  the ‘end’ of their journey as they continue to seek out the rainbow and the wealth of such fantasies.

The irony is that as the pot brews such fairy tales with subservient morals of defeating  ‘witches’ and catching up to that leprechaun by following the path of that rainbow  (that if one can ever find the path of the ‘rainbow’ and just follow it then they will acclaim status as the ‘American’ with all the entitled rights of liberty, justice, freedom, etc…),  to entice people for their own ends --- they fail to understand the demise of their own ‘candy’ house.

Neglecting to realize the consequence of creating the surrealism of the candy that comes with the destruction of the witches caste, the riches and glory now lie within the rainbow (i.e. diversity, cultural pluralism, multiculturalism), not beyond it.

Very true and very well written. You never fail to impress me. However, you did fail to mention the fact that when they draw all these foreigners to come to work here for reduced labor costs it hurts the Americans who are trying to feed their families because we are forced to work for less money. Many of us having worked at our trades for many years to get higher wages are then put out of work and made to seek government assistance such as unemployment and welfare. Still, I like that you do put the truth out there. Thank you for your insight. Another great job on your part. Keep up the good work. I look forward to reading your future posts.

I agree, well said and written. I am a third generation american whose great grandfather immigrated to the US from spain and although, I am well acculturated and assimilated with a great job and education, I am often reminded of our country's inequality of the so called opportunity for all and the forces at work labeled the desire of those who have (the witches) and their reluctance to allow anyone to salt their stew because they may loose their favor with those who eat it.

You brilliant mater fornicating mofo, you.
Those are some of the reasons moi states that
“I’m not an American, I AM a citizen of The United States of America.”

HAIL the Fadiators and vestal hookertoots!

As moi also states, “There is only one thing wrong with the USA, and that is, it never existed.
Who wouldn’t truly, 100%, unconditionally LOVE a place with liberty and justice for all BUT that place t’aint, ‘tis’nt and ‘twere."

Ah yes, saving face. . .the fuel of human CULTure’s cognitive dissonance’s grip on the psychic of (Most, about 99.99% folks, – always) people.

NOTE: 99.99% of the time when I use a decimal...it is 99.99%.

McCain was yammering about the illegal aliens burning down the parks.
Why were those, possibly, illegal aliens coming here?
To get jobs that were promised by some cheap pile of protoplasm already here.
Even if you catch THOSE illegal ones the CREAP HERE will only send for more & more & more & more & more, etc.
It’s the employers of illegal aliens the CAUSE illegal aliens to exist – at least the ones looking for work.
Of course
Capitalism = Terrorism
Communism = Impossible.
Shakespeare, a looooong time ago, summed it best (Moi paraphrases)
The fault is not in our stars but in ourselves.

This could of course by carried on the level of
International Keep The Peoples Down Day celebrations, and many others, but I don’t get paid to yap soooo yammerin’
[Yammering = out-gassing]
shall cease, for now.

As Bergman had stated in his
"The 7th Seal,"
"It's a stinking mess."

Hummmmmmm, after readin’ a bit more moi has come to the, albeit possibly quite paranoid, conclusion that this blog of vast knowledge, but the timber of knowledge that the Master/Witches attempt to keep buried, may be written by . . . . .
wait for it . . . . .
add ominous music here. . . . .
"Witches!"

Gad, if that is the case I’m already #1 on the
Must Ignore At All Cost list
soooooo no need to report.

If ya ain’t a "Witch," you
must-a really been put through it
(or incredibly, beyond the norm, advanced)
and in either case do try to
